Harold W. Pote, Former NS Director, Dies

Harold W. Pote, who served on the board of directors of Norfolk Southern from 1988 to 2006, died earlier this week.

Pote served on the executive, governance and nominating, and compensation committees. "Hal Pote's counsel for the railroad was sound, and his friendship with the people of Norfolk Southern was true," said Chief Executive Officer Wick Moorman. "We've lost a great business partner and a good person."

Pote was chief executive officer of American Financial Realty Trust of Jenkintown, Pa. Before that he was vice chairman of retail financial services for JPMorgan Chase & Co., and a founding partner of the Beacon Group, an investment partnership.
