Overview

As a part of our marketing team, you will be working directly with our customers to generate and grow partnerships through competitive pricing and market development.  You will also offer support in developing comprehensive market analyses and plans.  You will become part of the team responsible for developing new business, while continuing to maintain and grow relationships with our existing customer base. 

What We Look For in a Candidate

NS is looking for imaginative, creative people who will contribute to a growing and diverse organization. We are looking for candidates with a graduate or undergraduate degree in marketing, economics, finance, engineering, or transportation/logistics. In addition, we also accept students from other concentrations who have relevant work experience. For graduate degrees, a master of business administration is preferred.

Candidates should have top academic credentials, strong communication skills, workplace experience and a well-rounded background that demonstrates leadership and teamwork. Trainees must also have the ability to adapt to various roles within marketing and sales. Strong computer skills are a must.

After Training

Promoted trainees are often assigned as a product analyst within one of the commodity groups in marketing, which are located in Norfolk and Roanoke. Subsequent moves could include advancement within the original commodity group, assignment to a different group, or a move into field sales. In addition to opportunities in marketing, former marketing trainees have pursued careers in many other functional areas of the company.
