Overview of Co-op/Intern ProgramYour college experience is one of discovery and making the most of your unique potential. By becoming a part of Norfolk Southern’s co-op and internship program, you will be integrating valuable business experience with your current academic pursuits. We have positions in almost every aspect of our organization, from marketing to operations to information technology. We use a hands-on approach and challenge co-ops and interns with a variety of responsibilities. Our goal is to give you an experience that will complement your education and utilize your expertise. What’s the difference between being a co-op and being an intern? Our traditional co-op program hires college students who have a formal arrangement with their academic institution to alternate full-time work and school semesters. The student may alternate between work and study for two or more terms. Students sometimes may receive college credit for participating in these programs. Interns, on the other hand, are undergraduate or graduate students who work either full time or part time for one term, usually during summer semester. Co-ops and interns are paid according to their academic level. Our current rates of pay are as follows:
