Mission Statement
Norfolk Southern’s Car Management Mission is to provide rail cars that meet our customer’s requirements of quality, safety and on-time delivery while streamlining and improving distribution to achieve optimal performance as we compete in the global transportation marketplace.
Scope of Responsibilities
Norfolk Southern Corporation’s Equipment Planning and Car Management team is ready to meet your specific rail transportation and distribution needs. Our team is devoted to providing quality railcars to customer’s orders based on the specific car type needed for a specific date of loading.
Together with Marketing, Equipment Planning works with new customers on railcar availability and provides advice on which car type works best for the customer’s business.
Car Management is also responsible for monitoring and administering appropriate private marked railcar use over NS rail lines through applicable tariffs and the OT-5 process.

Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm Eastern Standard Time
