Equipment can be ordered using the Car Order (e-Cars) application through accessNS.

Equipment Ordering

The accessNS Car Order application provides customers the ability to order non-private, merchandise car load equipment for loading the following week or up to several weeks in advance. Equipment demand forecasting is enhanced by this centralized Internet car ordering system, which replaces old fax or phone processes. By placing car orders into the system, customers are ensured that Norfolk Southern knows the kind of equipment needed and the desired time for loading.

Orders should be made by the local industry/facility that will be receiving the requested equipment for loading or be made by the originating switch carrier fulfilling an order for an industry they serve. These guidelines are in place to avoid any conflict with what is on hand at the facility and what is being ordered to the facility. This will alleviate possible demurrage and capacity issues by placing the management of orders with those involved with a facility’s railcar management.
