Mine Operations
Norfolk Southern serves a region with vast reserves of the finest metallurgical coal in the world, as well as high Btu, low-sulfur steam coal. This coal comes from deep, strip and slope mines, plus mountaintops, and it moves over the Norfolk Southern system to various domestic and international markets.
This list of mines on the NS system includes names of producers and selling agents, their addresses and telephone numbers, track capacities at the mines, origin stations and mine numbers. It's intended to link together our partners in business -- end-users and producers.
Some loading facilities are currently inactive and have not been included here; however, the NS Mine Development Team will keep you abreast of changes as they occur.
