About The Matching Gifts Program

The Matching Gifts Program is designed to encourage your support of eligible nonprofit educational, cultural and environmental organizations. The program is operated by Norfolk Southern Foundation, through which all or a portion of NS' charitable gifts are made.

Who Is Eligible

You are eligible to participate in this program if you are a:

• regular, full-time employee with at least one year of service, except employees in job class 10 (generally, co-ops, interns and part-time employees), of Norfolk Southern Corporation or a participating subsidiary (NS);
• eligible employee placed on NS' Long-Term Disability Plan or on an approved leave of absence; or
• eligible employee after retirement.

Eligible Gifts

Norfolk Southern Foundation will match on a one-to-one basis the participant's eligible gifts, subject to a minimum of $50. Employees can receive Matching Gifts support for eligible contributions up to $35,000 per calendar year ($25,000 for retires). Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and include only accredited colleges and universities, certain independent college foundations and certain private secondary schools pre-approved by Norfolk Southern Foundation, arts and cultural organizations, and certain environmental organizations dealing with land, air or water conservation issues.
