Duties: Student will work with the personnel of Transportation Planning on a variety of projects. Primary duties include developing and disseminating measures and reports to support strategic and tactical operating decisions. This may include regular production of existing reports, creation of new reports, data analysis and maintenance of existing reports, reporting tools and supporting systems. Students will become familiar with the diverse information systems that source this data to include the corporate data warehouse and mainframe systems. They will also be exposed to business processes that are used to improve customer service and the flow of traffic in the NS transportation network. Other duties include presentation generation as well as investigation into the causes of variation in field operations performance.
Skills: Student must be highly PC-literate and have extensive experience in MS Excel. A programming background is required with experience in MS Access preferred. Knowledge of MS Visual Basic, SQL, MS Frontpage, statistical analysis and design of experiments is desirable.
