Location: Three Commercial Place, Norfolk, VA 23510
Work Period: Fall and Summer
Hours: Monday through Friday; generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Majors Preferred: Seniors or graduate students majoring in Business Administration, Management Science, Information Technology, Decision Sciences, Engineering Management, or Operations Research with at least a 2.8/4.0 GPA overall; 3.0/4.0 in major. No relocation, travel or living expenses are provided. Students must commit to at least two alternating semesters to be considered for the co-op position.
Description: Co-op will perform multifaceted work and may be involved in several projects simultaneously supporting the research and information needs of the Strategic Planning Department. This work may be data gathering, data entry and analysis, database maintenance, presentation preparation, map creation (using GIS software), or statistical analysis.
Skills: Candidate must be knowledgeable in use of Microsoft Windows and Office 2000 Professional. Should have a basic understanding of relational database concepts and have the ability to write SQL statements. Experience with MS Access programming desirable. Must be personable, possess strong analytical skills and be self-starter willing to study reference materials to understand the industry and resolve problems. Candidate must also be open to working with new technologies and have the ability to learn new software processes.
