Pocahontas Land Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Norfolk Southern Corporation, has a summer intern opportunity for an individual with a desire for excellence. Pocahontas Land Corporation owns and/or managed approximately one million acres of natural resource bearing property in West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois and Alabama.
Prefer Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering candidates with at least a 2.8/4.0 GPA overall, 3.0/4.0 in major. No travel, relocation or living allowance provided.
All co-ops who are active employees on or after January 1, 2005, will be paid according to the following:

Duties & Responsibilities: Summer intern will gain extensive knowledge of engineering and mining operations. The intern will learn the workings of our Surveying & Mapping Department's GIS system through data entry, editing spatial data (geographic data) from engineering and mapping surveys.
Skills: Must be able to operate AutoCAD and ArcView 3.2 and/or 8.1 rev. (GIS Software) with an advanced level of skill. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and surveying techniques are preferred. Should be willing to study reference material to resolve problems, make suggestions for improvements and design projects.
