The Modalgistics Department consists of the Forest Products Marketing Group. The Forest Products Marketing Group is responsible for serving customers who ship or receive lumber, wood, and paper products via rail and primarily handles pricing and market development initiatives. The Modalgistics Department also offers logistics services to new and existing Norfolk Southern customers including supply chain management, warehouse management, distribution planning and network optimization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The co-op student will assist various managers in the department with 1) data entry and analysis, 2) database design and maintenance, 3) market research projects related to the transportation and logistics industries, 4) traffic forecasting, 5) rail price simplification and maintenance, 5) report generation, and 6) development of presentations to help meet our marketing objectives for business growth and customer satisfaction. Students must commit to at least two alternating semesters to be considered for the co-op position.
Skills:
The co-op student should have strong analytical, verbal, and written skills. The co-op must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint and must be capable of updating Web pages with text and links. The student must be detail oriented with good communication and listening skills, and comfortable working in a team environment.
Salary:
All co-ops who are active employees on or after January 1, 2005, will be paid according to the following:
