Prefer: Students seeking degrees in Engineering or Computer disciplines with at least a 2.7 GPA overall and a 3.0 GPA in major. No travel, relocation, or living allowance is provided. Salary for this full-time position depends on class level at the time of employment. Students should be eligible to work a rotation of three work semesters.

Description: Student will work with the personnel of Locomotive Reliability on a variety of projects. Primary duties include accessing and manipulating Teradata and DB2 server-based locomotive-related information and performing statistical analysis of retrieved data. Student will become familiar and input data in the Locomotive Maintenance Information System. Other duties include reliability impact analysis of locomotive projects and investigation of modes of locomotive failure. Also, report and chart generation as the result of investigation and analysis of data related to locomotive reliability.
Skills: Student must be highly PC-literate and have extensive experience in MS Excel. A programming background is required with experience in Visual Basic preferred. Knowledge of MS Access, SQL, graphical interface programming, HTML, Java, MS Frontpage, statistical analysis and design of experiments is desirable.
