Prefer: Students in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least a 2.7 GPA overall and a 3.0 GPA in major. No travel, relocation, or living allowance is provided. Salary for this full-time position depends on class level at the time of employment. Students should be eligible to work a rotation of three work semesters.
All co-ops who are active employees on or after January 1, 2005, will be paid according to the following:

| Reports To: | Manager Locomotive Engineering |
Description: Student works with locomotive engineering staff on a variety of projects. Primary duties include creation and revision of mechanical and electrical drawings; equipment and installation designs for locomotive modifications; the reproduction and distribution of drawings to locomotive shops. Student will also be involved in the creation of Mechanical Department publications, such as rosters and diagram books, as well as recording data to locomotive information systems. Student may have some trips to field shops with supervision to assist in developing projects and modifications.
Skills: Must have knowledge and operational skills in AutoCAD combined with literacy of some computer software applications. Knowledge of Windows NT, Access, Excel, Word, preferred. A willingness to study reference material to resolve problems, make suggestions for improvements, and design projects imperative. General hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment preferred.
