Education: Pursuing Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from an accredited university. The candidate must be enrolled during the semester in which he/she is employed. Undergraduates must have attained Junior or Senior status to be considered for position.
Experience: Prefer candidates with practical IE experience. SQL, Arena, FlexSim, Windows Office/2000/NT/XP, Minitab, Visio, C++, and Visual Basic (VB) would be helpful.
Requirements: Strong analytical skills. Aptitude for problem solving. Background in applied probability theory and/or statistics. High degree of computer literacy.
Responsibilities: Intern will assist with industrial engineering studies, both in the office and in the field. Intern will assist IE's with data collection by performing interviews and direct observations and/or mining various systems. Intern will assist IE's map complex business processes. Intern will assist with data analysis using Minitab or other statistical analysis software. Intern will also assist IE's in preparing presentations and technical reports.
Intern will assist IE's with rail network simulation projects using Rail Traffic Controller (RTC) to model rail operations and evaluate infrastructure proposals. Intern will assist with RTC network generation and train data collection and analysis. Intern will also assist in analysis of internal and external customer business processes using Arena, FlexSim or other simulation software to model and evaluate process improvements.
