Edward A. Bickowski
Track foreman
Enola, Pa.

A memento from my past military service returned 35 years after it was lost. My dog tags from service in Vietnam from May 1967 to January 1969 were returned to me. I received a call from a POW/MIA committee asking about my service in Vietnam. When they confirmed that I was the Bickowski to whom the dog tag belonged, the POW/MIA representative asked if I wanted it back. I said, “Yes I want it, it’s mine.”

I don’t remember when or where I lost the tag. At that time I forgot about it, because I figured I’d never see it again and just wanted to do my job. To be honest, I would prefer some of the guys coming home instead of a dog tag, but it feels like a piece of me has come home too.
