Sharing Our Stories Patricia (Trish) Balbalian I'm probably one of Norfolk Southern Corporation's newest employees and here's my story. My spouse and I are both veterans. Each of us has about 17 years invested in our military careers. I spent nearly six years on active duty with the Army and over 11 years in the Reserve Component. Currently, I'm a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in the Individual Ready Reserve as a Helicopter Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner. My husband has spent most of his military career in the Guard, with two active duty tours as a flight medic. His first activation was a combat tour overseas with the Virginia Army National Guard during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Last year he was called up for 14 months of active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Both of us are proud of our military service. We are also proud of the sacrifices our family has made over the years, in order for us to be able to serve our country. In addition, Craig and I are very proud of becoming part of the Norfolk Southern "family." We are definitely looking forward to a safe and successful future for both of our families. Lastly, I personally appreciate the fact that the NS family is willing to acknowledge our nation's veterans. Even though we are volunteers, doing our duty, it's a good feeling to know that others recognize our service. |
