Norfolk Southern celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 - Oct. 15

Norfolk Southern’s Diversity Council invites you to join us in recognizing Hispanic culture and traditions during Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their heritage to Spanish speaking nations.

We’ve devoted a special section of our Web site to the celebration. The site includes information about the origin and development of Hispanic Heritage Month, biographies of prominent Hispanic people, profiles of NS employees who trace their heritage to Spanish speaking nations, information on NS’s business ties in Mexico and Spain, cultural and historical information, and links to related sites. A commemorative poster and notepads are being distributed throughout the company.

We encourage you to explore the Web site and join in celebrating this part of our tradition and heritage.

Proclamation by President George W. Bush

One's heritage is the customs and traditions that are handed down from generation to generation through their families.

A person with Latino heritage means that they are descendants of a family from Mexico, Central America or South America.

The term Hispanic means people who come from a country where Spanish is spoken.
