At NS' annual meeting in May 1998, one NS director was elected to a one-year term and three directors were re-elected to three-year terms.
E.B. Leisenring Jr. of Philadelphia, chairman of the Philadelphia Contributionship, the nation's oldest insurance company, retired from the board in line with NS' retirement policy for directors.
In March, R. Alan Brogan, then executive vice president-Transportation Logistics, was elected to the new position of executive vice president-Corporate.
In July, several elections occurred.
In August, Thomas C. Hostutler, then senior assistant vice president-Corporate Accounting, was elected vice president-Internal Audit.
Kathryn B. McQuade, then vice president-Internal Audit, was elected vice president-Financial Planning.
In September, Paul N. Austin, then vice president-Personnel, was elected vice president-Human Resources and assistant to Chairman.
