*1998 and 1997 results include Conrail-related items, principally interest expense on debt, credit facility costs, integration expenses, and equity in the earnings of Conrail.These items reduced net income by $156 million, or 41 cents per diluted share, in 1998, and by $107 million, or 29 cents per diluted share, in 1997. 1998 results include a gain from the sale of NS' motor carrier subsidiary that increased net income by $105 million, or 28 cents per diluted share.
