Norfolk Southern’s Committed Capacity Program (CCP) provides year-round shippers a guaranteed weekly allocation of equipment in markets of high demand – so you don’t have to worry about capacity supply. Now you can commit dedicated capacity just like an over-the-road carrier.
How it Works…
Norfolk Southern will allocate a certain number of EMP containers each week for your use at a specific terminal
- Currently offered at Atlanta, Chicago, Kansas City, Memphis, Norfolk, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis terminals.
Customers pay a per box fee based on tier level. Please contact your local NS Marketing Representative regarding tier application. The CCP Fees for each tier are listed below.

CCP for 2008 will begin January 12th and will be split into two periods:
Period 1: January 12, 2008 – September 5, 2008
Period 2: September 6, 2008 – December 12, 2008
- Period One: if NS fails to fill a Weekly Allocation, the IMC will receive a credit equal to 150% of the CCP Fee for each container shortfall.
- Period Two: NS understands failure to provide capacity during peak season is more critical so the penalties for failure are stiffer, up to $2,000 per shortfall container.
