As announced in our previous Customer Advisories, Winter Storm Stella impacted the northeast region of the Norfolk Southern network. The storm caused a freight imbalance in our network which will result in a chassis shortage at our Harrisburg and Rutherford facilities over the next 48 hours. To help minimize the longevity of the anticipated chassis shortage we ask that customers return their empty units as soon as they are able to do so. Effective immediately we will also accept empty 53’ EMP container returns at both our Harrisburg and Rutherford terminals until further notice.
Customers should continue to expect unit availability delays of 24 to 48 hours at Harrisburg and Rutherford.
