Hurricane Florence, a powerful Category 4 storm, is expected to make landfall in the Carolinas early Friday morning. The National Hurricane Center states, “Florence is carrying sustained winds of up to 130mph and will bring life-threatening storm surge and rainfall.”
Due to the projected path of Florence, the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) has advised they will curtail operations beginning Thursday, September 13th. In advance of Hurricane Florence, and the SCPA stoppage, the following gate and terminal closures are announced:
Effective 6:00pm EDT today, Norfolk Southern will close all origin facility gates to Intermodal shipments destined to Charleston and Greer. The Norfolk Southern Charleston Intermodal Facility will also cease all operations effective 6:00pm today.
We will continue to closely monitor the storm and provide updates as the storm progresses.
