Multilevel Cars

Automotive manufacturers can select among unilevel, bilevel, and trilevel cars depending on the height of vehicles to be transported.

Boxcar

The automotive boxcar offers enclosed storage with doors on the side for transporting automotive parts that require protection from the weather. The car has a double regular center or double plug center, rub rails, reflectorization, rack retainers, bulkheads, and column load dividers.

Assigned car storage tariff: NS 6004-C (Item 800)

Flat Car

The automotive flat car features a flat floor with no side or roof for  transporting automotive frames that do not require protection from the weather. 

Inside platform length: 89’4”

Load capacity: 70 tons
