The Chicago Region Environment and Transportation Efficiency project, or CREATE, is a $3.2 billion public-private partnership to reduce rail and highway congestion while adding freight and passenger capacity in the metropolitan Chicago area to support the increase of intermodal traffic.
Six major freight railroads converge in Chicago. As a major U.S. rail center, Chicago's ripple effect spreads throughout North America and Mexico as well as abroad. CREATE has a positive impact on our nation’s economy by ensuring this region continues to increase capacity and make efficiency improvements.
