Louisville Jefferson Riverport is owned by Jefferson County, Ky., and the City of Louisville and is located at Mile Marker 618 on the Ohio River. The facility has an annual coal throughput capacity of seven million tons.
The Louisville Jefferson Riverport Terminal has 200,000 tons of ground storage available and serves three railroads directly — NS, CSXT and the Paducah and Louisville. Reciprocal switching is available with the CP Rail System. The terminal has two loop tracks that hold 120 cars each. It can serve 30 barges, 15 loads and 15 empties. Blending capability of up to three coals is available, and a John B. Long sampling system is utilized. Additional fleeting and switching also are available.
The facility operates eight hours a day, seven days a week.
