The Railroad Retirement program offers retirement benefits to railroad employees as well as survivor benefits to spouses.

Service requirements for railroad retirement benefits

To be eligible for Railroad Retirement benefits, you need to have performed 10 years of creditable railroad service or five years of creditable service if you performed the service after 1995.
