Class I Steel Net Facilities
Class I facilities are best suited for handling high-value steel and metal products moving in covered coil gondolas requiring environmental protection. Most of these facilities also have Class II capabilities at their locations. Some common features include:
- Heavy duty overhead cranes
- Inside loading, unloading and storage
- Temperature and dew point control within the facility
- EDI capability
- Inventory management tools for product level tracking
- Many have steel processing capabilities
- In-house trucking and flexible delivery capabilities
Class II Facilities
Class II facilities are best suited to handle steel products which move in covered or open gondolas and do not require special environmental protection, such as wire and hot band. These features include:
- Outside loading, unloading and inside storage
- Has either overhead cranes or heavy duty forklifts
- EDI capability
- Access to trucking for flexible delivery capabilities
Class III Facilities
Class III facilities are best suited to handle structural type materials that will not require inside storage, such as bars and beams. These features include:
- Outside loading, unloading and storage
- May have EDI
- Access to trucking for flexible delivery capabilities
